Good afternoon Prince George Families,
Due to the continued icy conditions across the county and many of our school buildings after last weekend's storm, Prince George County Public Schools will have a Remote Learning Day tomorrow, Friday, January 30, 2026.
Students will complete assignments provided by their teacher(s) last week as part of the Remote Learning Day.
Instructional staff should follow their Remote Learning Day procedures and expectations. All other employees, use CODE 3:
CODE 3: Only 12-month administrators report at 10:00 A.M. and dismiss at 4:00 P.M. Essential Personnel report at 9:00 A.M. to prepare the school campuses and fleet for operation with release at 3:00 P.M. No other personnel report for Code 3.
Meals: As part of the Remote Learning Day, student meals will be available at Prince George High School (7801 Laurel Spring Road) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the front doors. You will receive two breakfasts and two lunches, which would facilitate the possibility of an additional Remote Learning Day should additional impactful winter weather affect Prince George County this weekend, as forecasted by the National Weather Service.
Please click HERE to sign up if you want to receive a meal and intend to pick up the meal during the distribution window.
We will share more information about Monday’s operational status as we monitor this latest forecasted round of winter precipitation.

How a Remote Learning Day Works
- Grades Pre-K-3: Students in these grades will receive paper packets prior to leaving school before an expected remote learning day. The students are expected to complete their packet and return it to their teacher upon completion once school reopens.
- Teachers will hold office hours from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the remote learning day where they will be accessible via email to answer questions and provide support for students.
- Grades 4-12: Students in these grades will complete the work they downloaded to their Chromebook while at school prior to the remote learning day during this time. Students will have to submit their completed remote learning day assignments within seven (7) school days to their teacher(s).
- Teachers will be available virtually via Google Classroom to answer questions and provide support for students during the remote learning day from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
In addition, learning specialists, elementary (Pre-K-5) resource teachers, related service providers, and school counselors will hold office hours from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the remote learning day where they will be accessible via email to answer questions and provide support for students.
Teachers will allow up to seven (7) days for students to turn in work assigned during the remote learning day(s).
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make every effort to ensure students are able to continue learning and thriving academically, even during unplanned school closures. As another round of winter weather is forecasted to affect our area, we will continue to monitor for potential impacts and share updates should we need to adjust our opening status during the week ahead.
Thank you, and please be safe.
Sincerely,
Dr. Wayne Lyle
Superintendent
