A Message from Dr. Lisa Pennycuff, Ed.D. to the Prince George County Public Schools Community

April 19, 2024

Dear PGCPS Family,

It is with a heavy heart and mixed emotions that I share with you that I will be retiring from Prince George County Public Schools effective July 31, 2024.  I am blessed to be in that time of my life where I have the opportunity to help with the care of my mother as I believe "to care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors" we can receive.

Pennycuff PortraitIt has been my great privilege and honor to serve the faculty, staff, students, and families of the Prince George County Public Schools' community for the past 9 years, first as your Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Accountability and now as your Superintendent.

I will be forever grateful and appreciative of the amazing PGCPS Team who devote their days to making a difference in the lives of the children of Prince George.  From the instructional initiatives that have strengthened our core such as the Tiered System of Supports and literacy work, to the facility improvements for air quality made possible through the replacement of HVAC systems, and the wireless infrastructure now in place to support today's technology, to our incredible new school on Middle Road, together we have made a beautiful and lasting impact on Prince George. And, I have absolutely loved getting to see the children playing on the playgrounds and fields of the school division. I know these are only the beginning of great things to come for Prince George.  It is my hope and desire that the new Superintendent will be given the opportunity by the School Board, staff, and community to build upon the great foundation that has been put into place for the continued success of our schools.

I have cherished the opportunities we have had to grow together and to become the very best resources we can be for our children. Through the collective efforts of the children, families, and the PGCPS Team, our students are extremely fortunate to be able to develop a strong academic foundation that allows them to have many great choices available to them as they graduate.   Our children are truly blessed because of the monumental efforts of each of you.  Because of you, our students will always be proud to call Prince George their hometown.

With my sincere gratitude,

Lisa Pennycuff, Ed.D.
Superintendent
