While the forecast called for clouds at the Prince George High School athletics stadium Wednesday morning, the sun and glimpses of blue sky began to appear shortly after the event's opening ceremonies, serving as a fitting kickoff to the day's activities.
The Feet Meet is a unified track and field meet that sees students with and without disabilities partner and represent their schools in a friendly, uplifting environment surrounded by their classmates, friends, and community. Students participate in unique physical and creative activities through different stations at the Feet Meet event, resulting in an experience that helps spark new friendships, encourages teamwork and collaboration, and inspires leadership and unity.
Second grader at Beazley Elementary Nathan Mahone, joined by event organizers, carried the opening ceremony torch and helped start this year's Feet Meet, backed by Prince George High School's JROTC, who presented colors for the event.
Each school's delegation participated in a diverse assortment of activities at this year's event, including the popular obstacle course, mini-javelin throw, soccer kicks, a dance station, and more. These stations were managed by both student and adult volunteers, including players and coaches from the high school's football, soccer, baseball, and softball teams.
Prince George County Public Schools & Prince George County Special Olympics Advisory Committee appreciates the support of our community for making the Feet Meet an incredible and memorable event for our students.
